A dog with mammary tumor needs help
27 Feb 2005: Just to let everyone know, Porky is a still a happy and wonderful part of our family. She recently had a tooth fall out, but the vet can't figure out why because her overall oral health is really good. Other then that, she has no health problems. She is very happy and proof that there is still hope for your faithful friend even if they have cancer. I have posted a recent picture of pork chop in her album, and I plan to post more soon. Thanks so much for everyone's help and support.
23 Aug: There is a new post-op album with a few pictures. 19 Aug, 7pm EST: Porky's surgery has been completed and she is at home. The total cost was $622.50 including all of the meds, histopathology, etc. Thanks to all of our generous donors for their support, it helped to make the surgery much more affordable for all of us. We'll keep this page updated with info, and we'll have some post op pictures as soon as Porky feels up to it. Right now we are praying for clean margins to come back from the histopathology, and we'll keep everyone updated. Update: (2pm EST 19 Aug) Porky is almost done with surgery. The vet tech said that everything looks good and that the vet will call us when she is finished cleaning up. I can't wait to go see her. Update: The surgery has been scheduled for 19 Aug. Hi, I have a dog (beagle-mix) named PorkChop. She is a very sweet and loving dog that I adopted from the humane society when she was 8 weeks old, but she now has a mammary tumor that the vet said needs to be removed, because it is malignant. PorkChop is currently 10years old. I have had her all of her 10 years and I love her very much and want her to be healthy. I am currently a college student at the University of Florida in Gainesville on a very limited budget, as I am not able to get any financial help from my parents due to some problems that they are facing. I am really trying to get support from anyone who might be able to help. I have been trying desperately to earn as much money as I can by working extra shifts at my job, but it just doesn't cut it. If there is any way that you can help out PorkChop, it would be so very appreciated. Please help if you can. I just love my dog so much, and I want her to be healthy. Thank you. Also, here is some more info about the tumor: It is about 2inches wide and 2inches long. It is located on the right hand side of her mammary chain. She has already had diagnostic procedures done. A chest x-ray was performed. It showed that her lungs were CLEAR, which, according to the vet, means that this surgery is an excellent option, and, if performed, will keep any tumor cells from spreading to her lungs. Her blood panel also came out very well! I Have some pictures of her tumor in the photo album which you can access by clicking the link on the left hand side of this page. It was kind of hard to take these pictures because the hair on her tummy is white, but if you want a bigger picture, just let me know and I'll email that to you. Thanks to everyone who has donated so far. Much of the page including the diary, contributors, and donation sections have been updated with the latest information and responses to requests. |
